We are back…

Dear members and friends of the DEF,

On this page I welcomed you at the beginning of 2020 and pointed out issues that will occupy us: the future of the DEF in the context of our forthcoming General Assembly and BREXIT and its impact on our town twinning.

Both issues are certainly still virulent, but the unpredictable pandemic of a CORONA virus has put everything aside and is dominating the daily lives of each of us with varying intensity and unknown duration.

I sincerely hope that you all remain healthy and strong enough to resist this hostage.

Whether I will be able to invite you to an annual general meeting this year cannot be predicted.

Nevertheless: at the end of September, the city of Karlsruhe invited to a workshop on the subject of “What does town twinning look like? Under the moderation of staff from the Führungsakademie, we – about 30 people; associations and internationally active organisations including the relevant departments of the city of Karlsruhe – spent a day discussing the various facets of this issue in detail and extremely fruitfully. I would like to bring it to our circle for further discussion concerning the future of our association.

And the BREXIT…we are curious!

I wish you and your families and friends: Stay healthy and let us hope for a personal get-together soon.

In this spirit I would like to invite you all already now to our annual

CHRISTMAS CAROL SINGING on 12 December at 16.00

this time to the Lutherkirche on Gottesauer Platz. Under strict CORONA conditions we can continue our tradition in this restored art nouveau church. The Karlsruhe Handglocken Chor (Hand Bell Choir, meaning less aerosols) will accompany us musically.

Stay healthy

Joachim Klaus
